Letter: Do other veterans get double billed?

My husband is 89 years old and served during the Korean conflict. For a number of years, he has gone to the VA in Salisbury for health care.

After several years of shots to help with the pain, doctors decided he needed something else. Taking into consideration our ages (mine is 86), they made an appointment closer to us in Thomasville.

He was treated there, and Medicare and our supplement policy took care of all the charges. He had that appointment on Jan. 4 in Thomasville, and no visit was made to the Salisbury VA. But recently, we received a bill that said, “Outpatient care visit date 1-4-19,” with a cost of $50.

Several calls were made to the Salisbury VA, with the answer being that this was the way the VA handled this.

Is this the way they show appreciation to veterans for their service? By double billing them?

I hope other veterans have used another facility under VA direction and did not get double billed also.
