Koontz Elementary will start new pre-school class

SALISBURY — Rowan-Salisbury Schools is opening a Title I preschool class at Koontz Elementary School.
The new preschool will open in January and operate during normal school hours of 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Title I refers to financial assistance provided to local education agencies and schools with high numbers or percentages of children from low-income families. However, all preschool students in the county can apply. Transportation will be provided only to students who live in the Koontz attendance area.
Applications are available at all Rowan-Salisbury elementary schools in the front office or the Wallace Educational Forum at 500 N. Main St. All applications must be returned to the schools or Wallace Educational Forum by Tuesday. To be eligible, a child must have turned 4 by Aug. 31.
The Title I preschool screening will take place at Wallace Education Forum from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 9.
