Letter: High schools should have uniforms, too

I am writing to discuss an issue that is important to me. I am an eighth grader at Southeast Middle School, and we should also have uniforms in high school and I am writing because I believe if we must have uniforms in elementary schools and middle schools .
I believe high school is where uniforms are needed most. This is due to students being older and more clever about bullying and violence. School uniforms in high school would lower the bullying rate, since everyone would be wearing the same thing. It would also improve student tardiness because students would take less time to get ready in the mornings. I believe it would help with overall student attendance, too, since students would not be afraid to come to school for the fear of being pressured over what color or what style of pants or tops they were wearing.
Uniforms would also help with students’ attention spans because they wouldn’t be glaring around the classroom, looking at other students’ clothes, with bright colors or designs on them.
I believe it would also cut down on skipping class because each grade could be a different designated color, like in middle school.
They would easily be seen by administration in the hallways or on the grounds, and the administration would know that they were skipping class.
Overall, I firmly believe that uniforms need to be in high school, as this would help our generation in their overall development.
