9/11 Remembrance at the Price of Freedom Museum features firetruck from movie

Opening ceremony 10 a.m.
CHINA GROVE — The annual memorial ceremony honoring all First Responder Heroes begins at 10 a.m. with the National Anthem. The event continues until 3 p.m. with displays of fire, police, rescue and emergency equipment, including the 1974 Seagrave firetruck featured in the John Travolta film ‘Ladder 49.’
In addition, the N.C. Fallen Firefighters will sponsor a trailer that will have information about firefighters who’ve died in the line of duty.
Information about fire safety will be available, and food vendors will be on hand.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office will have its DARE car on display.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. followed by a speech by Dan Peters, who is retired from the South Salisbury and Granite Quarry fire departments and is currently the Salisbury Fire Department chaplain.
The observance will go on rain or shine. The permanent military exhibits at the museum will also be open, including “Memories of Yesteryear,” a nostalgic school classroom, the WWII-era three-room house and the Do You Remember Room.
Admission is free.
