CHINA GROVE – Pamela Engel, who has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis, lives with pain every day.

Recently, she’s found some relief in cannabidiol — known as CBD. Now, she plans to open a store that sells the compound in China Grove.

“For years, I have been going from one doctor to another, trying all different kinds of prescription medicines,” Engel says. “I’ve even had injections. I’ve struggled to get through my days, and sometimes the side effects added more problems.”

Pamela’s condition got to the point that she was told to start infusions of biological medicines. She was already injecting herself weekly with a type of biological medicine that wasn’t helping control her pain.

“My issues of pain, not sleeping, swelling continued to bother me so much, I had to quit my job,” she said.

“My pain has kept me from living my life, to the point I barely left my home last winter and spent most of my days on the couch or in bed. There were days I spent at doctors’ hoping for something to help me feel human again,” she says.

Two years ago, Engel first tried CBD while she was in Colorado.

The drug works with the body to ease problems with anxiety, cognition, movement disorders, and pain.

Engel will open Your CBD Store on Sept. 15 in China Grove. It is located at 701 U.S. 29, off Interstate 85 Exit 68 across the road from Gary’s BBQ.
