Free baseball and softball camp offered through city

Salisbury Mayor Al Heggins will host area youth at a free baseball and softball camp as part of the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) support of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) “PLAY BALL SUMMER” initiative.
On Saturday, Aug. 31, from 9 a.m. to noon at Catawba College’s Newman Park (baseball field) there will be a baseball camp for Salisbury boys and girls, ages 7 to 15. The camp will be led by Catawba baseball and softball teams, who will teach the fundamentals of each sport.
Free transportation will be provided from Hall Gym beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Pre-registration is recommended by calling (704) 638-5286 or online at www.salisburync.gov/play
The program focuses on the fun nature of baseball or softball and encourages an active and healthy lifestyle for children in all communities.
