Pleasant Garden man killed in tractor-trailer crash
GOLD HILL — A Pleasant Garden man was killed when his tractor-trailer crashed Thursday on Stokes Ferry Road.
Jeffrey Mark Hallenback, 52, was traveling near 12510 Stokes Ferry Road when the tractor-trailer ran off the right side of the road along a ditch line and overturned, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Hallenback was partially ejected and was pinned for some time, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 2:43 p.m. about 9.5 miles from Granite Quarry.
Officials said Hallenback was driving a truck owned by Brackett Brothers Corp., a lumber and wood products manufacturer based in Morganton. The truck was hauling a flatbed with lumber on it.
The Highway Patrol’s motor carrier division will conduct a post-crash inspection. Trooper K.G. Barringer investigated the crash.
