The gavel has been passed. Seth Waller did the honors of installing Rowan Rotary’s new president, Dr. Wendy Barnhardt at their most recent meeting. Waller was the club’s president this past year.

“Rotary means so such to me on so many different levels,” said Barnhardt. “First of all it’s about service. I love to serve my community and the world anyway that I can. It’s one of the things that gives meaning to my life. Also it’s about leadership. Rotary has taught me so much about leadership and how to serves others.”

Barnhardt has been a member of the Rowan Rotary club since 2014. She is the Dean of Health and Education Programs at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

“This is a very service orientated club. I love that. It’s family. This is an extension of my family. I feel I have gained so many friendships from this club,” she said.

Before ending his presidency, Waller also awarded Sheila Mulkey the club’s Rotarian of the Year award for all she’s done as the club’s treasurer.

“I really enjoyed my time as president,” said Waller. “It was great to get to know our members even better. I’ve worked closely with Wendy this past year. She has a lot of great ideas. I look forward to seeing her accomplish wonderful things with our club.”

Rowan Rotary meets every Thursday morning (except holidays) at Trinity Oaks at 728 Klumac Road in Salisbury from 7-8 a.m. They have weekly speakers on topics of interest to the community. And discuss upcoming service projects. All are welcome.
