Blotter: Rowan authorities looking into Salsarita break-in

SALISBURY — Rowan County authorities said it appears someone who broke into Salsarita restaurant left empty-handed overnight July 3.

An employee of the business, located at 120 Rowan Summit Drive, reported at 6:15 a.m. July 4 that he arrived to find a front window had been broken. Officials said there was broken glass inside and outside the business.

Security footage shows a black man with a slim build and wearing a hooded sweatshirt went inside the restaurant at 11:42 the night before. He walked in from the front behind a counter, then left the business within minutes through a side door.

According to the employee, nothing was missing. The damaged window was valued at $1,000.

In other Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports:

• A woman reported July 4 that her Dodge Dakota truck was stolen in the 2700 block of Needmore Road, Woodleaf.

• Authorities seized drugs and paraphernalia in plain sight while conducting a warrant search at a residence in the 12400 block of Old Beatty Ford Road, Rockwell.

• James Ray Haynes, 28, was charged July 4 with misdemeanor marijuana possession in the 4300 block of Old Beatty Ford Road, China Grove.

• Beverly Ann Misenheimer, 26, was charged July 4 with misdemeanor simple assault in the 100 block of Sternbridge Drive, Rockwell.

• Jack Melvin Lasley, 35, was charged July 4 with misdemeanor assault on a female in the 100 block of Sternbridge Drive, Rockwell.

• Kurtis Michael Dickson, 30, was charged July 4 with felony possession of a controlled substance Schedule II at Organ Trail and Organ Church Road, Rockwell.

In Salisbury Police Department reports:

• Dollar General, at 2131 Statesville Blvd., reported Friday that someone threw an object through a glass door, entered the building and stole beer.

• A man reported Friday that an elderly woman with bruises may have been abused in the 800 block of Court Side Drive.

• A man reported fraud Friday at Walmart.

• A man reported Saturday that someone forced his way into Emma’s of Salisbury restaurant, 209 S. Lee St.

• A woman reported an assault Saturday in the 500 block of Lake Drive.

• A woman reported a stolen vehicle Sunday in the 2200 block of Woodleaf Road.

• A woman said she was strangled Sunday in the 500 block of East Cemetery Street.

• Elton Devon Hooper, 19, was charged Saturday with felony altering a firearm serial number and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon in the 800 block of East Innes Street.

• Xavier Shykeem Simpson, 22, was charged Saturday with misdemeanor larceny on an outstanding warrant in the 1500 block of South Jake Alexander Boulevard.

• Leah Ashley Brennan, 34, was charged Saturday with misdemeanor cyberstalking in the 800 block of West Jake Alexander Boulevard and Brenner Avenue.
