Rowan weather: Typical summertime, hot, humid, chance of rain

It’s going to be a hot and humid week with a chance of showers and thunderstorms about every day.

Today is a Code Yellow air quality day for both ozone and particle pollution. Unusually sensitive people may be affected.

Tuesday is predicted to be another Code Orange Air Quality Action Day. Code Orange means the air quality is poor, and people with asthma or other respiratory problems will be affected.

Today will be sunny and 92, with north wind around 5-7 mph. Tonight will be mostly clear and 69, with calm wind.

As temperatures rise this week, the heat index will make it feel like it’s 100-105, so be sure to drink water, keep children, the elderly and pets out of the sun and avoid outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.

Tuesday will be sunny and 92, with west wind around 5 mph in the afternoon. There will be a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.

The same chance of rain is possible Tuesday night before 10 p.m. it will be partly cloudy and 71, with calm wind.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and 94, with light north northwest wind. A 30% chance of showers and storms is possible after 5 p.m.

Wednesday night will also have a 30% chance of showers and storms before 2 a.m., then showers, then more storms after 3 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy and 72. Any storm could produce heavy rainfall and frequent lightning.

The Fourth of July will be partly sunny and 91, with a 40% chance of showers and storms before 8 a.m., then showers through 10 a.m., followed by more storms.

Thursday night will also have a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 71 and mostly cloudy skies.

Friday will have a 50% chance of showers, with thunderstorms possible after 9 a.m. It will be partly sunny and 90. The chance of storms and showers goes down to 30 percent Friday night, with a low of 72.

Saturday will be partly sunny and 90, with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. The same chance of rain continues Saturday night, with a low of 71 and mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday will be partly sunny and 88, with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
