Blotter: Midland man charged with heroin, cocaine trafficking

Rowan County authorities on Saturday charged Michael Angelo White Jr., 39, of the 11200 block of Gipson Drive, Midland, with two counts of felony trafficking in opium or heroin, two counts of trafficking in cocaine, felony possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to a warrant, White was in possession of 28 grams or more of heroin and less than 200 grams of cocaine. He also had a Ruger .380 handgun. He was issued a $500,000 secured bond.

In 1999, White was convicted of cocaine possession after pleading guilty in Cabarrus County.

In other warrants

• Kevin Shawn Hurley, 31, of the 200 block of Bee Lake Drive, was charged by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office with misdemeanor child abuse and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

The incident occurred Tuesday and Hurley was issued a $2,500 secured bond. According to the warrant, Hurley had an uncapped syringe and spoons with narcotics residue on them near a child. The child was under 16, the warrant said.

There were two silver metallic spoons with residue and three syringes at the home.

• Daisey Nichole Casey, 37, of the 900 block of Gheen Road, was charged on Friday with felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

The warrant said she was in possession of alprazolam, methamphetamine, and there was drug residue on a cut straw. She allegedly also had plastic bags and a mirror. She was issued a $2,500 secured bond.
