Letter: Think of all the veterans who died
Published 12:00 am Sunday, June 23, 2019
This letter is in response to Whitey Harwood’s letter published June 9 (“No need to thank me for my service”).
Harwood said he was in the Army for two years and hated every minute of it. He also said that it makes him sick for someone to thank him for his service. How would anyone know that he was in the service? Does he wear an Army hat or something?
I was in the Marines for four years and fought for my country, and I’m proud to be a veteran. I feel proud when someone thanks me for my service and proud to be an American. I’m sure that a lot of Rowan veterans feel as I do.
Mr. Harwood, thank you for your service. I hope it makes you sick.
Think of all the veterans who died so you could be sick to be a veteran.
