Salisbury police investigate vehicle break-ins

SALISBURY — Police are investigating a number of a vehicle break-ins reported Thursday across the city.

A woman reported that between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m., someone broke into her vehicle while it was parked at Lutheran Services, where she works. The woman said she had left her purse in the passenger seat of her car but believed the door was locked.

Police officials said there was no forced entry into the vehicle. The woman told police she got her umbrella out of the vehicle earlier in the day and her purse was still there. When she returned to the vehicle after work, the purse was gone.

A man reported that his vehicle was entered between 5 and 6 p.m. at his home in the 400 block of Eastwood Avenue in the Corbin Hills subdivision. His Jeep Wrangler was unlocked. The thief took cash, speakers, an amplifier, knife, laptop and headphones.

A man reported that his Honda Accord was ransacked while it was parked in the 900 block of East Lafayette Street. He told police both windows were rolled halfway down and all the doors were unlocked. His wallet and cash were stolen as were lottery tickets and a 12-pack of Heineken beer.

A woman reported that she parked her vehicle at Walmart so she could board a bus for a trip. She left June 16 and returned Thursday to find the vehicle’s glovebox had been damaged. She said there were no valuables in the Toyota but she wanted to report the damage. The woman said she thought she had locked the doors.
