Opens June 28; weekends through July 21 with special July 4 performance

The Patriots are on the march!

“Liberty Mountain: The Revolutionary Drama” has announced dates for the play’s sixth season, beginning Friday, June 28 and running for four weekends through July 21 with a special performance on July 4th.  All performances are at the Joy Performance Center in downtown Kings Mountain.

“Liberty Mountain” is the story of the settling of the Carolinas in the mid-1700’s, the area’s growing involvement in the war for independence from Great Britain, and the 1780 Patriot victory at the Battle of Kings Mountain, which turned the tide of the Revolution and guaranteed America’s freedom.

General Manager Jim Champion says, “This season will be our best ever.  Throughout the previous five years of performances, the play has evolved into an exciting journey into the perilous days of the Revolution as experienced by the men and woman who lived through it.”

Creative Director Caleb Sigmon is assembling a superb cast of more than 30, many of whom are local actors.  “This area has a great abundance of talent, and we are proud that so many give their time and considerable skills to our production.  We promise a season of dramatic, engaging storytelling that will thrill, inspire, and educate you.”

Playwright Robert Inman used extensive historical research to make “Liberty Mountain” an authentic telling of the story.  “We want everyone who comes to see our play to leave with a lasting impression of what our ancestors sacrificed to give us the freedoms we have today.  Our show is completely family friendly, so come and bring the kids.”

Performance dates are June 28, 29, 30, July 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, and 21.  Shows are Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 3:00pm and 7:30pm, and Sundays at 3:00pm.  The special July 4 show is at 3:00pm.
