Last summer, Toi Degree (food and consumer education agent) and Morgan Watts held a “What’s Your Beef” cooking class here at the Rowan County Agriculture Center.
They covered parts, nutrition and cooking methods of beef. They had an excellent turnout, and one of the suggestions they got afterwards was to keep having these workshops annually and do different types of meat each year. They decided our focus and theme for this summer’s workshop will be chicken.
Join them for an afternoon of fun on July 15 for “Don’t be a Chicken” poultry workshop. The workshop will be from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Rowan County Agriculture Center, 2727 Old Concord Road, Salisbury. Registration is required as spots are limited. The cost is $10 per person. Please RSVP by July 8.
The topics they will cover are poultry parts and a demonstration on how to part a whole bird, food safety, labels, nutrition and different cooking methods of poultry. Dinner and tasting samples of chicken will be provided.
For more information on this workshop and to register, stop by the office or call Morgan Watts, livestock agent, at 704-216-8970.
