Rockwell AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary contributes 92 worn U.S. flags for military veteran cremations
ROCKWELL — Members of the Rockwell AMVETS Post 845 Ladies Auxiliary brought 92 worn American flags to a Salute to Veterans luncheon at Lady Bird Farm on Wednesday.
Powles Staton Funeral Home, one of the sponsors of the luncheon, accepted the flags on behalf of its Retire Your Flag With Honor program. It provides U.S. flags to accompany the bodies of military veterans who are cremated.
It also provides for the proper disposal of the flags. Representing the auxiliary Wednesday were Phyllis Treece and Marsha Washam.
