Myrtle Deadmon turns 100

Myrtle Wilson Deadmon celebrated her 100th birthday on April 29, 2019.

She grew up in Landis and lived there until moving to Cleveland; hers was one of the first families to own a TV in the 1940s.

Her grandmother walked the Trail of Tears.
Her parents were George and Annie Correll Wilson, and she was married to Ralph Deadmon, now deceased.

Myrtle worked in a textile mill for some years.
She has a daughter, Joyce Steele (Jones); two grandsons, Jody (Traci) and Todd (Dannie); and three great-grandchildren Claire (Peter), Jacob, and Sarah. She is a member of South River United Methodist Church.

Myrtle has never had a driver’s license, but has lived, and still does live, an independent life. She lives alone and loves to make wreaths, crochet, paint and draw. She has a large collection of dolls and made enjoyed making doll clothes for many years.
