Leonard Pitts’ column published Thursday (“Impeachment must not be solely on politics”) illustrates the stages the author has gone through in his deliberations on this 45th presidency.

Pitts’ bottom line spells out the moral necessity for removing Donald J. Trump from the presidency. Pitts is more than correct in his justifications and conclusions.

Reasons include immorality, the failure to live up to the rule of law and the Constitution, his failures to protect and be president for all of the people, the myriad lies, his open flagrance of and obstruction of justice and the list could go on and on.

The administration of this president has systematically torn apart the government of the people, by the people, and for the people. And the Republican Party and its so-called leaders have normalized all of this.

The standing of the U.S.A. in the world has been downgraded substantially by his lack of leadership and the whims of his childish narcissism. The Mueller investigation, even with its redactions, spells out clearly the serious misdeeds we have watched take place. It spells out clearly how Russia seriously interfered with the 2016 election, and they are still at it. Yet, Trump refuses to acknowledge the meddling and to aid in making fixes to stop it from happening again. And the entire Republican establishment covers up all of this.

Yes, it is a moral necessity way beyond overdue to remove the 45th president and his administration.
