Police looking for man in Saturday Brookview Apartments shooting

SALISBURY — The Salisbury Police Department is investigating a Saturday shooting in which one man was shot multiple times and airlifted to a Winston-Salem hospital.

Just before 6:15 p.m., police were notified of a potential shooting at Brookview Apartment complex, located on South Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. The victim was en route to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in a private vehicle.

The hospital confirmed that Michael Dwayne Connor Jr., 32, of Salisbury was there with gunshot wounds.

Connor was transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for further treatment. There was no word on his condition Monday afternoon, police said.

Salisbury Police Violent Crimes detectives identified Corey Parnell Sims, 29, of Salisbury, as the shooter. Police have issued a warrant for Sims’ arrest on a charged of attempted first-degree murder.

Police said Sims may be in the Mocksville area.

Police say Sims is dangerous and advise people not to approach him.
