SALISBURY — One person was seriously injured Saturday following a 6:13 p.m. shooting at the Brookview Apartment complex, said Salisbury Police officials.

One man was injured and airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem after he was shot at the complex, located at 711 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

According to Police Detective Travis Shulenberger, no one is in custody, but investigators are following leads. The incident was not a drive-by shooting, he said, but the shooter was at the complex.

“This was not a random act of violence, Shulenberger said.

No other injuries were reported.

When asked if this shooting was connected to any other shootings that occurred earlier this year, Shulenberger said he could not say whether it’s connected.

The last major shooting in Salisbury was in March where two teens were shot, one in the ankle and the other in the abdomen. The teens had attended a party held at a business park on South Main Street. No arrest has been made in that incident.
