Letter: Veteran’s funeral heart-warming

As an appreciative citizen of this county as well as one who has the highest regard for our armed forces, I’d like to say thank you to all that were involved in the very heart-warming farewell funeral for World War two and Korean Veteran Bertha Harrison Dupre on March 22.

A thank you goes to Social Worker Rhonda Fernandez, Cabarrus Veterans Service Officer Lori Hinson, Carolina Cremation and a big thank you to Powles Staton Funeral Home for its hospitality and sharing of information.

The procession that included Freightliner’s military-decorated trucks, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Salisbury Police Department escorts, fire departments and East Rowan Students as well as other citizens was very moving.

Also a thank you to the Salisbury Post for printing her story.

These acts showed the love, honor and respect that we have for each other. What a wonderful, proud, heart-warming day. All involved are angels and are to be commended.
