Letter: Grateful for firefighters, police

Published 12:00 am Thursday, April 11, 2019

This letter is for the three firefighters that came to my home and the two police officers that arrived, too, to make sure I was alright.

I had smoke in my kitchen because I had burned some chicken I was cooking for a potato salad. My alarm went off for what seemed like forever. I finally got it to stop, but it started again an hour later. The firefighters came back, but I was able to stop it.

Soon after they left, I was in my den, trying to calm down, when the burglar alarm went off.

The door to my den began to rattle. I looked out to see two police officers on my patio.

They asked me who I was and if everything was alright.

I would like to tell the citizens of Salisbury that we are so lucky to have such wonderful firefighters and police officers. I must have said, “I am so sorry” a million times, but their responses were all the same — “we are glad you are alright.” I will always be grateful for their kindness and understanding.
