STATESVILLE — East Rowan’s boys golf team shot 163 and won a North Piedmont Conference match played on Wednesday at Twin Oaks.

Austin Miller shot 37 to lead Mustangs. Colby Patterson shot 40, while Cole Mabry and Alex Miller shot 43s.

West Rowan’s Davis Tadlock was medalist with a 36.

Carson was led by Andrew Burke’s 40.

The Rowan County Championships are set for April 11 at Corbin Hills.

HS baseball

MOUNT GILEAD — North Rowan overcame an early 8-0 deficit and rallied to beat West Montgomery 12-11 in a Yadkin Valley Conference game on Wednesday. Caelan Stinson’s two-run single in the top of the seventh put the Cavaliers (2-12, 2-8) on top.

Jordan Goodine had three hits, including a double and a triple.

Logan Stoner had two hits and scored three runs.  Stinson had two hits and three RBIs.

Joseph Hartman was the winning pitcher in relief. Goodine pitched the bottom of the seventh for a save.

Charlie Durham pitched into the seventh inning and struck out 11 batters to lead North Rowan’s 5-3 Yadkin Valley Conference win against Albemarle earlier this week.

Durham also contributed a big double offensively.

LANDIS — South Rowan picked up another Central Carolina Conference win by breezing past Thomasville on Wednesday, 10-0.

Jarrid Nelson (4-1) struck out 10 batters in four innings for the win. Drew Huffman struck out the side in the fifth to end the game.

Drew Watkins went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Andrew Jones scored three runs. Nathan Chrismon had a double and drove in a run for the Raiders (8-7, 6-6), who are fifth place in the CCC.

A three-run sixth inning lifted Davie County to a 4-3 non-conference win at Southeast Guilford on Wednesday.

The War Eagles (14-1) got two hits from Carson Whisenhunt and Aaron Williams. Troy Clary won in relief. Anthony Azar earned a save.

Brayden Garrett had a three-run double for A.L. Brown in Wednesday’s 5-4 non-confence loss to Mallard Creek.

Caleb Beaver had two hits for the Wonders (3-11).

HS girls soccer

Salisbury won 6-0 against Thomasville on Wednesday in Central Carolina Conference action.

The Hornets (12-1, 10-0)  got two goals from Sutton Webb and one each from  Katherine Sullivan, Ellen Simons  and Piper Muire.

The highlight  came with the match’s final goal, as senior Rainey Dunham scored her first goal of the season.

Assists were credited to Muire (2), Webb, Anna Grace Woolly (2) and Lillie Rusher.

Salisbury also got excellent play from Madelyne Lawrence, Clara Brown and Simons.

Salisbury plays at home tonight against East Davidson.

  West Rowan’s Lejla Mehmedovic and Ryley Corriher plan to sign with Catawba’s women’s soccer program on April 18.

HS boys tennis

North Rowan lost at North Moore on Wednesday in Yadkin Valley Conference tennis, 5-4.

Hans Roemer and J.D. Hager won singles matches for the Cavaliers. Roemer/Hager and Ray Montes/Arizona Day won in doubles.

HS softball

East Rowan won against A.L. Brown in non-conference softball on Wednesday, 7-3.

Salisbury lost to West Davidson on Wednesday in a Central Carolina Conference game, 14-0.

Ellen Yang had two hits for the Hornets. Journie Dawson and Patty Garcia had one hit each.

Yang struck out five.

West Davidson took control with a five-run second inning.

South Rowan lost to Ledford in a CCC game on Wednesday, 12-0.

Chloe Everhart held the Raiders to three hits — singles by Ashlyn Plott, Courtney Mullins and Anna Blume.

McKinley Faw pitched a complete game for South.

Aubrey Tuell pitched a shutout as Mooresville beat South Iredell on Wednesday, 10-0.

Davie County lost to East Forsyth in a Central Piedmont Conference game on Wednesday, 4-2.

Rachel Bostic pitched a complete game. Sydney Wyatt drove in both runs for the War Eagles.

Catawba softball

WINGATE —  Catawba split a South Atlantic Conference softball doubleheader at Wingate on Wednesday afternoon.

The Indians (18-15, 6-6)  rallied for a 6-5 win in the opener, but Wingate picked up a 6-2 win in the second game.

In the first game, Gracie Gibson led off the sixth inning with a homer for the Indians. That blast tied the game at 5-all.

With two outs in the seventh, Jordan Dean singled and stole second.  Leah Huggins, singled to score Dean with the eventual winning run.

Dean had three hits. Huggins had two hits and two RBIs, and Carlee Brawley also had two hits.

Madison Hunter    won in relief of Preston Ellenberg.

• In the second game, Kaylee Cook had three hits for the Indians, while Taylor Martin had two.

Gibson hit her second homer of the day. Hunter (9-5) took the loss in relief of Brooke Walser.

  Catawba travels to King on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Minor leagues

Former Catawba catcher  Zac  Almond is starting the season with the Class A Kane County Cougars (Illinois) in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.

Mid. school soccer

West Rowan’s boys tied Knox 0-0.

Defensive standouts for the Bulldogs were Mason Quarles, Blake Pope, Adrian Stockton and Luis Elizalde.

West’s girls dominated possession and defeated Knox 7-0.

Brittany Vanhoose had two goals and three assists.

Anna Mead had three goals and an assist.

Jayden Carter had an assist. Lesli Guerrero had a goal and  an assist. Evelyn Kwitowski had a goal and an assist.

Mid. school baseball

West Rowan defeated Knox 16-0 on Wednesday.

Damon Oles was the winning pitcher.   

Oles, Eli Graham and Tyler Kepley scored three runs each.

West (4-1) will play China Grove today.
