High school softball: Salisbury wins against South

LANDIS – Salisbury’s softball team outscored South Rowan 12-6 in Central Carolina Conference action on Friday.

Salisbury took advantage of 16 walks, four hit batsmen and several South errors.

The Hornets (3-7, 1-6) got good offensive games from Alli Tuck, Journie Dawson, Jaliyah Oats, Mallory Link and Caroline Harrill.

Salisbury scored twice in the top of the first and never lost the lead.

Link had a run-scoring double in the first inning for a 2-0 lead.

Ellen Yang was the winning pitcher. She went the distance, striking out seven and walking three. She got all three outs in the seventh on strikeouts.

South (1-8, 1-7) got three hits each from Anna Blume and Karley Wood. McKinley Faw and Courtney Mullins had two each.

Blume, who signed with Lenoir-Rhyne, hit a two-run homer in the third.
