SALISBURY — A man already accused of murder was charged this week with felony discharging a firearm into an occupied property with an officer inside.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hayden Scott Godair, 25, who had been charged in the March 3 shooting death of 17-year-old Jabari Isaiah Rogers.

Rogers was shot and killed on Cone Drive in Woodleaf. Authorities found him with a gunshot wound in a driveway. Deputies made failed attempts to save Rogers, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Godair was located a day later in Robeson County in a stolen pickup. Godair and a woman stole the 1998 Sonoma truck from a residence on Parks Road, about a mile from the murder scene.

Godair was additionally charged with possession of a stolen firearm and larceny of a motor vehicle.

Robeson County deputies found Godair after responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle. The caller said the vehicle appeared to be stuck in the mud.

Godair initially gave Robeson County deputies a fake name.

Godair was returned to Rowan County.
