Letter: Faith example of national decline

We once lived in a beautiful (in every sense of the word) little community in Rowan County called Faith.

Faith is a picture of traditional Americana — rock-solid moral integrity, with the hometown values that made the fabric of a once-great nation. The county school board is now telling the people of Faith “we know better” and we’ve decided to close your school and bus your students into other communities for the sake of progress.

What is happening in Faith is a microcosm of what has systematically happened to the U.S.A. The “we know better” philosophy of big government wanting more control to do the bidding of an unseen enemy that seems to be destroying what we can see.

All the while, big government is after our very heart and soul. Until we recognize it for what it is and deal with it spiritually, it will continue to destroy what we used to know about America until it is utterly decimated. The truth is we can’t fight what is spiritual on a physical battlefield. We’ll lose every time.

Isn’t it ironic — what’s happening to the beautiful little town of Faith is exactly what is happening to the once solid faith that we used to see in the U.S.A.

I’m praying for my friends in Faith, and I’m praying for America — that we’ll return to the rock-solid faith of our fathers.
