UPDATE: Rowan County Sheriff’s detectives have determined that murder suspect Hayden Godair fled the Woodleaf crime scene with 21-year-old Savanah Dial, who is now charged with stealing the truck the pair drove to Robeson County, where Godair was found early this morning.

Godair has been charged with the murder of 17-year-old Jabari Isaiah Rogers on Cone Drive in Woodleaf.

Dial lists one of her addresses as being on Cone Drive.  At some point after the murder, the investigation revealed that Godair and Dial possibly stole a 1998 Sonoma truck from a residence on Parks Road, about a mile from the murder crime scene.

This information was shared with the public through the news media, listing Godair as the murder suspect, and advising that he was possibly operating this stolen vehicle.

As a result of the arrest of Godair, and the recovery of the stolen truck in Robeson County,  Rowan detectives went to Robeson County early today.  A stolen firearm was also located in the possession of Dial and Godair.

Rowan detectives met with the deputies who arrested Godair.  Godair was traveling with Dial when he was located in Robeson County, near Lumberton. As a result of the investigation, Dial has been charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen firearm.

Dial was returned to Rowan County by Rowan detectives, and placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond.  Godair is in custody under no bond for murder.

This investigation continues with additional charges possible.

Hayden Scott Godair, 25, wanted in the shooting death of 17-year-old Jabari Isaiah Rogers in Woodleaf, has been arrested and was taken into custody in Robeson County, at about 2 a.m.

Robeson County deputies found Godair after responding to a suspicious vehicle call at a location in their county.  The caller said the vehicle appeared to be stuck in the mud.

Once Robeson County deputies made contact with Godair, he initially gave a fake name. The truck was checked via NCIC and a hit did come back for the vehicle being stolen. A pistol was located in the truck which was also checked via NCIC, and it also came back as stolen.

Detectives with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office did respond to Robeson County shortly after Godair was taken into custody.  The murder warrant was served on Godair in Robeson County, and he will be transported back to Rowan County for a first appearance.

Additional information will be released at a later time.

Rogers was shot and killed on Cone Drive in Woodleaf. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said it found Rogers suffering from a gunshot wound in a driveway on Cone Drive. Life-saving attempts failed, and Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene.

Godair has a lengthy criminal history and has ties to Davie County as well, the sheriff’s office said. Godair’s criminal history includes charges such as possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance and breaking and entering.
