SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was charged Monday with possession of methamphetamine after a witness said he appeared to be unconscious inside a vehicle in the McDonald’s parking lot.

The Salisbury Police Department charged Joshua Wade Bare, 33, whose address is listed as the streets of Salisbury, with felony possession of a controlled substance Schedule II and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Someone called 911 about 2 a.m. Monday to say a possibly intoxicated person was sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot. Police officers got Bare out of the vehicle and searched him. They found a small plastic bag of crystal meth and a hypodermic needle in his pocket.

Bare has previous felony convictions including larceny, breaking and entering, breaking into vehicles, and obtaining property by false pretenses.

He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $1,500 secured bond.
