Clothing giveaway Saturday
CLEVELAND — Ambassador for Jesus Christ, 210 Clement St., will hold a free clothing giveaway for everyone on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will also be free hotdogs and drinks available.

Black History Month musical celebration at Macedonia – Salisbury

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Salisbury, off Hwy 70 on Enon Church Road, is having a Black History Musical Celebration on Saturday at 5 p.m. featuring The Echoes of Christ, Voices of Faith, Unity of Praise and Men over 60. Homecoming at Resurrection Life includes Matthew Weaver
At 10 a.m. on Sunday, Resurrection Life Church, 627 Newsome Road, will have its first homecoming service since the church plant in December 2001. Rev. Black History Month celebration includes luncheon at Rock Hill AME Zion

CONCORD — The Rock Hill AME Zion Church Christian Education Department is having a Celebration of Black History on Sunday at 10 a.m. Guests are invited to wear Greek or college or African attire. From 1- 2 p.m. is s Soul food luncheon; adults $10 and children $5.

Black History Month celebrations at GMBC honor local leaders

Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Caldwell St., will celebrate the last Sunday of Black History Month with speaker Bishop Emeritus Harvey Rice Sr. at the 11 a.m. service. Each Sunday in February has been designated to honor a local citizen or business. This Sunday’s honorees are Audrey Cunningham, first female African American detective and magistrate in Rowan County, and Byron and Phillip Brown of Randall’s Modern Beauty and Barber Shop. 28th Black History Month celebration at Word of Life
The Education and Drama Ministries of Word of Life Family Worship Center, 726 East Liberty St., will observe their 28th annual Black history program at 3 p.m. on Sunday with music, dance, readings and skits commemorating great African American achievers. Save The Date: Daughter of Holocaust survivor Weissberger to visit Temple Israel
3 p.m. Sunday, March 17
As part of the 49 Days of Gratitude event, Tammy Grinshpon, daughter of renowned Holocaust survivor Ela Weissberger, will visit Temple Israel on Sunday, March 17. She will share her mother’s legacy and describe what life within the concentration camps was like.
Weissberger shared her story of survival through speaking engagements as well as in her autobiography “The Cat with the Yellow Star: Coming of Age in Terezin.”
Portions of a webcast featuring Weissberger will be shown during this event.
Temple Israel is located at 1600 Brenner Ave., at the corner of Brenner and South Link Ave., across from the main entrance of the Hefner VA Medical Center.
The event starts at 3 p.m. There is no charge and the event is open to the public.
