Union Church Road closing for bridge replacement
Published 12:00 am Wednesday, February 13, 2019
The N.C. Department of Transportation will replace two bridges on Union Church Road southeast of Salisbury this spring and summer.
Work will begin by initially replacing the bridge closest to Stokes Ferry Road. The bridges can’t be closed at the same time because there would be no access roads for people who live between the bridges.
The first bridge closure will be on Union Church Road a few hundred yards from Stokes Ferry Road. The road will be closed for about 90 days. The bridge will be demolished and replaced with a box culvert.
The closure is scheduled to begin the morning of Feb. 25 and last through May 27.
For the first project, the signed detour route will be Stokes Ferry Road, Beagle Club Road and Bringle Ferry Road to get around the bridge location. Click the following link to view the project location and detour route: Union Church Road Closure with Detour.
