Letter: Answers needed on school conditions

As a retired educator and citizen of the north Rowan community, I would like to thank the school board for taking the demolition of North Rowan High School off the table for now.
I am certain closure discussions will also cease for good when they become aware of the unique learning design at North High.
I’m now writing in reference to a statement made by board member Dean Hunter about the North Rowan facility. In a Jan 24th Salisbury Post article, Mr Hunter stated North Rowan was a level four on a recent facility assessment. He went on to state that levels three and four are considered uninhabitable by state standards.
My question is this: What are the ratings of the other high schools in Rowan County? Are we the only one with this designation, and if so, why has our facility not been maintained as well as the others?
If there are other schools with this designation, why were we targeted? I look forward to some clarification on this issue.
