SALISBURY — A smoldering fire in a pipe chase was extinguished at the former Cone Mills building just before noon Friday.
The property, which is at 210 Hill St. off Railroad Street, is next to Salisbury National Cemetery.
The old mill is undergoing demolition. Parts of the building have been torn down. Brick and wood are piled up to be collected and salvaged.
When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke coming from a second-floor window.
Firefighters used a ladder to access the second floor since the stairs have already been removed in the demolition.
No injuries were reported.
