Nearly a dozen men working for George Stirewalt Landscaping used chain saws, pulleys,
ropes, a 120-foot-tall cherry picker and a large chipper to take down a massive willow oak this week in front of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on West Council Street. With most of the limbs nearly gone by Wednesday, the next step was to remove the trunk that is said to measure 9 feet in diameter.
