SALISBURY — Rowan County authorities say vandals demolished a sign outside a Bringle Ferry Road church and took the evidence with them.
A brick sign at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 9275 Bringle Ferry Road, was vandalized overnight Wednesday. A church member told a Rowan County sheriff’s deputy that she was at the church until about 9 p.m. Wednesday and nothing was amiss.
Her son told her the next day that the lawn and sign had been damaged.
Tire marks led from the road to the grass and away from the church.
There was also minor damage to a cemetery wall across the road and a small pile of rubble.
“It looked as if they took the debris,” said sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8700.
