Rowan weather: Flood watch through Saturday night

It’s going to be a messy day, with heavy rain possible throughout today and tonight.

We are under a flood watch through 6 p.m. Saturday. The heavy rain, combined with melting snow, could create flooding of streams and rivers. A watch means there is a chance for flooding. We could get as much as 3 inches of rain.

The chance of rain today is 100 percent, with patchy fog likely. The high will be 44, with northeast wind at 7-9 mph, gusting to 20 mph. Three-quarters to an inch of rain is possible.

Tonight has a 90 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm. It will be foggy and cloudy, with a low of 43. North northeast wind will be at 5-8 mph. Another half to three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Saturday’s chance of showers is 60 percent, mainly before 1 p.m. It will be cloudy and 53, with mostly calm wind. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Saturday night has just a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 9 p.m. It will be mostly cloudy and 42, with west wind around 5 mph after midnight.

Sunday will be partly sunny and 53, with a 20 percent chance of showers before 9 a.m. Winds will be west around 6 mph. Sunday night will be clear, with a low of 38.

Calmer weather returns Monday, which will be sunny and 58; the low will be 32.

Tuesday will be sunny and 52, with a low of 30.

Wednesday will be sunny and 52 again, with a partly cloudy night and a low of 34.

Then Thursday brings a 30 percent chance of showers. It will be partly sunny and 56.
