Ryleigh, 8, and Stryker, 7, Edwards of China Grove recently won first place in this year’s National Gingerbread Contest in the child division with their entry titled “Owl be your friend.” This is their second first-place win. The siblings got to meet Carla Hall from ABC’s “The Chew,” who was one of the judges.

To create the gingerbread owl, Stryker blended Chinese noodles, gingerbread and lentils over royal icing to create the owl’s coat. The body of the owl was four bowls of gingerbread put together. The eyes were made from Halloween candy, and ripped up cornhusks were used around the eyes.
