LANDIS — The town of Landis has postponed its Campfire Christmas by the Lake event, which was originally scheduled for Friday. Officials say due to expected rain, they’ve decided to delay the event by a couple of days.

The first-time event has been rescheduled to Monday, Dec. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lake Corriher Wilderness Park, 265 Tranquil Lake Drive. The event will include Christmas carols, cookies and cocoa with Santa, along with a tree lighting ceremony by the lake. The general store will be open for holiday shopping with gift wrapping available.

“We’ve got a tree that’s been built out over the water. Santa Claus is going to be there for two hours. The store will be open. We’ll have hot chocolate and different drinks and cookies and desserts and stuff like that. We’ll also have the South Rowan Christmas Chorus will be out there,” said Mayor Mike Mahaley.

Mahaley said the town hopes to host more events.
