Fridays@First begin at FUMC

The FirstARTS series at First United Methodist Church begins its Fridays@First Advent Series with an organ recital by Dr. Joseph Causby, organist-choirmaster at The Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill. Causby will perform music of Kenneth Leighton, J.S. Bach, Johannes Brahms, Maurice Duruflé, and Charles-Marie Widor on the 53-rank Parkey-Schantz organ.
Causby completed his Ph.D. in choral music at Durham University in England, during which time he also the first American organ scholar in Durham Cathedral.

The series continues each Friday of December with guest artists from across North Carolina. Other performances include the Women’s Chorus from Charlotte’s Myers Park United Methodist Church under the direction of James Jones on Dec. 14, and concludes Dec. 21 with a performance by the Lee Street Theatre Cabaret Singers.
All concerts in this free series are 30 minutes and open to all.
