SALISBURY — On the heels of Veterans Day, the Faith American Legion Auxiliary Juniors, Unit 327, decided to give to the Christmas Happiness Fund in memory and in honor of all veterans.

The Christmas Happiness Fund was kicked off this week and will run through the holiday. The fund was established more than 60 years ago and has been a Rowan County tradition ever since.

The goal has always been to provide for a few gifts at Christmas for area children in need.

Area families who are eligible have been able to take a voucher or gift card to Walmart and buy gifts for their children through the Christmas Happiness Fund.

The community makes contributions through the Salisbury Post, and the money is distributed by the Salvation Army of Rowan County.

Contributions may be delivered to the Salisbury Post, 131 W. Innes St., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays or mailed to Salisbury Post Christmas Happiness Fund, P.O. Box 4639, Salisbury, NC 28145-4639.

Make checks payable to Christmas Happiness Fund and indicate how you want your donation listed.
