Letter: Please fix Barber Junction Road

About 20 years ago, we, the families that live on Barber Junction Road, asked to have the road closed, to no avail.

Well, the school bus that runs this road sometimes gets stuck at the track because a train is across it. So they back up in my driveway. So far, I’ve replaced a mail box, picked up my railroad ties several times, picked up my garbage when the cans get knocked over.

Now, don’t let it rain, because the ditch overflows and at times the water crosses the road and is, yes, a foot or more deep.

Sometimes we have some people who love to jump the tracks — yes, in a 35 mph zone. But 50 is better because we can get all four wheels off the ground.

Two cars cannot fit side-by-side down this road.

The lumber company has their big equipment that takes its toll. The water sometimes freezes and helps the pavement heave up.

This is a state-maintained road? Is it? Come on down after a pouring rain. Bring two school buses and see if they can pass each other.

We have asked the county and the state to please repair or close Barber Junction Road.

Do something, even if it’s wrong.

Please.

Don’t just patch it. Fix it right.
