Piedmont Correctional Institution officer beaten up by inmate

SALISBURY — An officer at Piedmont Correctional Institution was repeatedly punched by a prisoner, authorities said Friday.
The Salisbury Police Department said Clyde Motley, 58, was punched on his head, face and upper body. The assault occurred Wednesday at the prison, 1245 Camp Road.
No other details were available.
