We’re in for a cold, nasty mess.

First of all, we are under a flood watch from noon today to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Secondly, the low tonight will be around 34, meaning some of the rain could become freezing rain or sleet. The mountains are already under a winter storm warning, with ice expected.

Today will be cloudy and cold, with a high of 45. The chance of rain is 50 percent, with rain and sprinkles from 9-11 a.m., followed by steady rain. Northeast wind will be 8-10 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.

The heavy rain moves in tonight, with a 100 percent probability. Patchy fog is likely after 10 p.m. The low will be 34, with northeast wind at 11-16 mph, gusting to 22 mph. Three-quarters to an inch of rain is expected.

Thursday also has a 100 percent chance of rain, with fog before 2 p.m. The high will be just 38, with north northeast wind at 7-13 mph, and gusts up to 18 mph. A half to three-quarters inch of rain is possible.

With the winds and the already saturated ground, it’s possible trees could fall.

Thursday night has just a 30 percent chance of rain, mainly before 8 p.m. It will be cloudy, then clear gradually. The low will be right at the freezing mark, 32, with west wind at 6-8 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.

Friday, finally, will be sunny and 52, with west northwest wind around 7 mph. Friday night will be mostly clear and 32 again.

Saturday will be sunny and 58; the low will be 36 under mostly clear skies.

Sunday will be mostly sunny and 57, with a low of 37 and mostly cloudy skies.

Monday will be mostly sunny, too, with a high of 56; the low will be 35.

Tuesday will be sunny and 53.
