Charlotte man arrested for having stolen rental car

SALISBURY — Cleveland police officers arrested a man Saturday for possession of a stolen rental car.

Aaron Orlando Gause, 30, of Grovewood Avenue, Charlotte, was stopped while driving a stolen red Toyota RAV 4 with a Florida plate. The vehicle is the property of Avis Rental Co., a police report said.

Gause was placed under $25,000 bond, with his first court appearance scheduled Monday.

In Kannapolis, police charged David E. Kerley, 52, of North Central Avenue, Landis, with exploiting an older adult. The charge involves using the money, assets or property of the older victim while in a position of trust.

The period covered in the charge extends from July 6, 2017, to June 1 of this year. Kerley was placed under a $3,000 bond.

In other reports from the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office:

• The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Jeremy Brant Ritchie, 28, of Wiley Lane, Salisbury, with felony possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. His bond was set at $1,000.

• Sheriff’s deputies charged Travis Elmer Cox, 39, of Organ Church Road with possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a Schedule III controlled substance. His bond was set at $2,500, with a court appearance Monday.
