High school football: Carson loses on road

Statesville’s Chavion Smith (129 rushing yards) and F.J. Garner 88-yard pick-six) were named the N.C. Farm Bureau Insurance Offensive and Defensive Players of the Game.

 Moore was 10-for-14 passing for 185 yards and two TDs.

Defensive lineman Teolyn Woodruff was a standout for Carson with two sacks and a tackle for loss.

The result of Friday’s games in the NPC was a four-way tie for first between South Iredell, East Rowan, West Rowan and Statesville at 2-1. Statesville’s league loss was to South Iredell, 20-19.

Statesville plays at East Rowan next week, while Carson is at West Rowan.
