Because of Qadirah’s death, there will be no Rowan Blues & Jazz Festival this year
SALISBURY — The Rowan Blues and Jazz Festival, which normally would have been held this Saturday, will not take place because of the death this summer of founder Eleanor Qadirah.
Some advance community and publication calendars still listed the festival for this weekend, but the decision to cancel it was made soon after Qadirah died in late July.
Volunteers and friends of Qadirah’s have discussed the possibility of having future festivals, but this year’s event became difficult without her scheduling the acts and organizing other aspects.
Qadirah established the Rowan Blues and Jazz Fesival in 1999.
