ROCKWELL — A Rockwell man was charged Tuesday after authorities said he posted child pornography on his Facebook page and had it on his laptop.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Gary Wayne Reid Jr., 54, of the 200 block of Hard Rock Drive, with 10 counts of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor; one count of felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance; and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities said a tip led them to open an investigation of a child pornography post on social media. The investigation began in May.

Investigators said eight images were posted online and two images were on Reid’s laptop.

Officials said detectives found a marijuana grinder, rolling papers and a bag with marijuana in it as well as a blunt wrapper with 13 marijuana cigarettes inside.

Reid was convicted in 2013 of possession with intent to sell a Schedule VI substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony maintaining a place for the sale of a controlled substance.

In 2009, Reid was convicted of misdemeanor secret peeping.

On the current charges, Reid was issued a $20,000 secured bond and was released from the Rowan County Detention Center.
