SALISBURY — A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed Friday evening on Bringle Ferry Road when he collided into the back of a car that had stopped for a turning vehicle.
According to an N.C. Highway Patrol report, Sawyer Lair Cote of the 8400 block of Bringle Ferry Road died at the scene.
The crash occurred about 7 p.m. Friday. Cote was riding a 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on Bringle Ferry Road behind a 2002 Toyota driven by Yvonne Smith Brincefield, 64, of the 900 block of Cemetery Street.
Brincefield stopped when a vehicle in front of her made a left turn. The report said Cote failed to reduce his speed and collided into the back of the Toyota. He was thrown from the motorcycle.
The impact of the crash pushed the Toyota left of center, then back into the correct lane of travel. The vehicle came to a stop on the shoulder.
Brincefield was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center by her husband.
The report said Cote was driving the posted 55-mph speed limit and did not slow down before his motorcycle struck the Brincefield’s car.
