Commissioners to hold special meeting on High Rock Lake Clean Sweep
The Rowan County Board of Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the commissioners chambers of the county Administration Building to discuss a weekend cleanup at High Rock Lake.
The commissioners will consider waiving solid waste fees for trash collected during the Clean Sweep, scheduled for Saturday at the lake.
The Davidson County commissioners have already approved a similar provision.
The community cleanup will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with volunteers clearing trash from parts of the lake’s 300 miles of shoreline.
“With all the talk about the value of High Rock lake to our two counties, folks are coming together to make sure it’s well taken care of,” said commissioners Chairman Greg Edds. “Efforts like this show a renewed pride in our community, and I’m excited to witness what’s happening.”
