Letter: Reprimand needed for Cabarrus GOP leader

Lanny Lancaster, chairman of the Cabarrus County GOP, has used a false picture of a young girl to identify and mock Dr, Christine Blasey Ford, who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, according to a Post article. The picture apparently implies the question, “Who would rape a girl like this?”

Talk about fake news — and from a Republican, whose party accuses the media of so much “fake news.” This was nothing more than an assault on womanhood.

We worry about the Russians messing with our media. A news item of the same day talks about the indictment of seven Russians for the same kind of fake news. We need to worry about our own people.

Has Mr. Lancaster been indicted? Probably not. But, perhaps he should be. Or maybe fired. At the least reprimanded. He is a grassroots leader of the Republican Party, the last one who stands before his party before they go vote. He certainly should be more responsible than this.
