SALISBURY — Rowan Helping Ministries will host an open house Oct. 6 as a part of the National Solar Tour.

The public is invited to attend the free open house from 9:30 to 11 a.m. to learn more about the organization’s experience going solar.

Tours will be offered, and participants can ask questions about solar power and connect with other homeowners and businesses in the area interested in solar.

The organization generates 100 percent of its hot water through solar paneling, 4.6 percent of its electricity in the Robertson-Stanback Center, and 41.5 percent of the electricity in the Ralph W. Ketner Center.

The money saved allows Rowan Helping Ministries to help more clients, expand services and improve programs to meet evolving needs.

Snacks and light refreshments will be available for guests. Tours and presentations will be at the Ketner Center at 226 N. Long St.
